    head --lines {{count}} {{path/to/file}}
     
  • Output the first few bytes of a file:
     
    head --bytes {{count}} {{path/to/file}}
     
  • Output everything but the last few lines of a file:
     
    head --lines -{{count}} {{path/to/file}}
     
  • Output everything but the last few bytes of a file:
     
    head --bytes -{{count}} {{path/to/file}}
